Truffle Hunters!

Our Teddy Roosevelt Terrier have been very successful in discovering Oregon Black Truffles for our enjoyment. These highly aromatic nuggets are found just below the forest floor, near and around Douglas Fir trees.  Well, we have those trees here on Bainbridge Island, and we have TRUFFLES!  The girls do a very good job of identifying the scent and gently extracting them.  If we aren't paying attention, they will gladly devour the truffles, but when monitored, they will nicely drop the truffles for us to harvest.

Teddy Triumph at Terrier Racing!

We are proud to report that Copper has earned the United Flat Racer title to go with his UKC conformation Grand Championship.  He is now known as UFR GRCH Weebits Copper Dynamo, thanks to his speedy work at the 2012 Premier.  Go Teddies!

Satin Balls -- Raw Food Recipe

Thanks to the recommendation of a thoughtful UKC judge, we found this recipe to add calories and nutrition when our dogs need to put on a little weight or before and during dog shows.  It also makes a great training treat and keeps their coats beautiful!  We divide the batch into small patties and freeze the extras.

Satin Balls for Little Dogs

1 lb hamburger (80% lean recommended)
1 and 1/3 cups Total cereal
1 and 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal

Agility training underway, thanks to IKEA

It's amazing how a quick shopping trip to IKEA could really kick-start our training effort for Agility.  While walking through the children's department, we noticed a flexible play tunnel.  We looked at each other and simultaneously said, "Agility tunnel!!"

Getting ready for Premier

We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the UKC Premier show in Kalamazoo, MI, next week.  Copper will be competing in the Top 10 Invitational for Teddy Roosevelt Terriers on Thursday, as well as conformation and terrier racing on Friday-Sunday.  Snowy will be showing in Conformation and Jr. Showmanship with our daughter on Friday-Sunday.  Please find us and come say hi!
